Philosophy

For me, there are no problem dogs, but each team - that is, man and dog as a pair - is behaviorally individual. Thus, the corresponding challenges can also be assessed and solved individually. And this always under the aspect that a challenge is approached without violence. Because violence often begins where knowledge ends. It is important that the needs of the dog are considered under the aspect of mindfulness. A dog is allowed to say "no" and to communicate its wishes.

I offer quality services combined with the knowledge and consideration of a professional dog coach.

In the communication between humans and dogs, I rely on my years of experience in my field of work and with my own dogs. Dogs can understand hundreds of different words and also respond to the emotional messages in the intonation of our language. So they don't speak the same language - but still understand us. Still, misunderstandings can arise - and that's where the root of many challenges lies. Because we humans also send dogs misleading signals in many cases. If the misunderstandings between humans and animals become too great, the dog quickly attracts our attention by behaving in a way that we do not want. But first and foremost it is the human's task to be able to read and assess dog behavior and communication correctly in order to react appropriately for the dog. I am concerned with the communication between your dog and you as the caregiver. My task as a dog coach is to analyze the different communication approach and to correct the resulting misunderstandings. Effectively passing on this knowledge to you and your dog is my endeavor.

The goal is to help you and your four-legged friend to have a relaxed everyday life and to give you a deep understanding of your dog's needs. For this, I attach great importance to continuous further training and regularly take part in seminars and workshops, learning about the latest developments and findings in order to be able to offer and provide a first-class service.

Get to know me a little better:

  • I am a dog coach and accompany dogs and their humans to a life in friendship, harmony and on eye level.

That "The Barking Butler" is not a "normal" dog school is not only shown by the fact that I neither train in groups nor offer the cantonal mandatory courses. Instead I accompany teams individually in single lessons. "0815" lessons are not my thing, because every dog-human team has its own needs and requirements that must be met. A look at my philosophy shows that my training methods are friendly, at eye level of dog and human, mindful and absolutely non-violent.

  • Create understanding for man's best friend. Every day, dogs are still ignored, treated unfairly and put in situations that are difficult for them to cope with. In my opinion, much of this happens because of people's ignorance. My goal is to act as a translator and bring people closer to their dogs.

  • This is very different. Often it is about the dog not understanding properly or having problems with everyday situations. Most of the time this is just a symptom of a basic problem in communication between man and dog and therefore a misunderstanding of needs. A large part of the problems arises because the dogs nowadays too much is expected, a look at the daily routine and the existing rest times of the dog already tell me a lot. Therefore I often give "only" tips for the everyday life and certain management, with which we grant more stability and peace to the dog. The dog wants to be understood and seen, but this is only possible if we humans get involved and want to see the dog in its character. Finally we wished to get a dog in our life and decided for it. The dog was not asked. Thus, from my point of view, there is an obligation on the part of the human being to go to eye level with the new family member.

  • You need a lot of patience, love, attentiveness and the willingness to accompany an alien being with its very own character throughout its life. If you bring this, house and garden or a large apartment are in my opinion rather beside the point. As before, dogs are brought into life in order to train the dog until it runs along as inconspicuously as possible in the life of its human being. In the process, many dogs switch off, do what is required and sometimes simply give up. They sometimes become lethargic or develop other difficulties. If the goal is to have a companion that is as quiet and unobtrusive as possible, it is better to reach for a stuffed animal than to look for a dog. We humans still call dogs man's best friend. It seems to me that many owners forget that friendship is not a one-way street.

  • The age of the dog does not matter. It's more about what I want to learn in dog school. In the past, it was claimed that the puppy should have seen everything by the time it was 16 weeks old, according to the motto "what a little boy doesn't learn...". Today we know that this theory is outdated. The dog has no actual imprinting phase, but sensitive phases in which he learns particularly well. And this all his life long. For me it is not about training "sit - down - heel - stay" with the dog, but to teach the human how to communicate adequately with his dog. This can be learned before a dog even moves in or even if the dog is already 10 years old.

  • A very renowned dog trainer and author from Norway once answered this question in an interview, "Don't go to dog school!"

And as abstruse as this may sound, these could be my words. Don't go to a dog school where countless group courses and trendy activities are offered, and where no individual attention can be paid to people and their dogs. Go to a dog school where you as a human being can learn a lot about dogs. The dog already knows everything he needs for his life. We humans must learn to understand him and to support him where he needs help in our everyday life.
